8 Tips To Stay Positive As A New Entrepreneur

The entrepreneurial world is wonderful, but it can get hard. From little setbacks to not reaching your goals quite as quickly as you thought you might, it can get tough to stay positive. Here are my top 8 tips to stay positive as a new entrepreneur.  Use these tips to keep a smile on your face as you set out on this great adventure!

If you haven’t yet – check out my tips to being productive when working from home!

8 Tips To Stay Positive As A New Entrepreneur

  1. Celebrate The Little Wins

As much as concentrating on the big picture is always important, take some time to celebrate the little wins! Set yourself a series of small, achievable goals and celebrate those victories as you pass them. Practicing gratitude is a way to keep you motivated, so be happy for the successes, big and small.

  2. Remember Your Roots

Why did you become an entrepreneur in the first place? Remember that reason always.  I keep my motivational mantra posted on my desk at all times. Go ahead, print it out if it speaks to you too! If you embarked on this amazing journey, you most likely were seeking balance in your life. Keep that thought in check as you go about your daily activities.

  3. Take Breaks

Take a step back and take a break. It’s very important for your mental health to take time away from the stresses in your life. Go out for a walk or a drive. Leave your phone at home and just relax.  Take your mind off work.  Remember: Entrepreneurs that take breaks and vacation when needed are much more productive & successful long term.

  4. Set Goals. For the Day, Week, Month, & Year!

Set small, everyday goals as well as long-term goals.  Make sure to check them off as you go. Set goals that are realistic.  One of the most important ways to stay positive is to make sure your goals are attainable. Don’t limit yourself to work goals either.  Set yourself health/wellness goals as well.  Getting up and moving is important for your well-being and will benefit your business in the long run!

  5. Surround Yourself With Supportive & Uplifting People

One of the best ways to solve (or avoid all together) a negative mood is to surround yourself with positive people. Friends or family who support you will always be the best way to keep yourself motivated!

  6. Develop A Business Model That Makes You Happy

Come up with a business model that not only works for your company, but works for you. Be realistic about how much time you can put into your work each day, and allow yourself mental and physical breaks. Do what you love.  If you have one particular service you offer that you don’t particularly like doing, take it off the list and focus on the items/services you do like doing! You have the power to choose what you want to do!

  7. Find A Supportive Community Of Like-Minded Individuals

The internet is a wonderful place to find like-minded individuals! There are plenty of Facebook groups, blogs, or mastermind groups that are filled with individuals in the same position as you who love answering questions and sharing experiences! Stick to these communities, they’ll help motivate you to be a better you!

  8. Have A Motivational Mantra

Create an easy, positive saying that will motivate you to keep going. Repeat it as often as needed. “If you want something you’ve never had – you have to do something you’ve never done!”  This is my mantra.  Choose one that resonates with you and look at that quote/saying every morning.  Or better yet – choose a different mantra for every day of the week.

Keep up the amazing work, stay motivated, and you’re on the way to success! With these 8 tips to stay positive as a new entrepreneur, you’ll be mentally prepared to stay motivated and turn your business into your dream. What are some of your tips to stay motivated? I would love to hear them!

I recently deactivated my Facebook page which had 700 some odd friends. Reason being, I needed a break from blog talk, I just couldn’t listen anymore. I needed to go do my own thing and be focused. I loved my supportive group, but I needed a break. End of story. These are great ideas.

  • Reply Cara (@StylishGeek) March 1, 2016 at 4:38 pm

I love these awesome reminders you posted. It’s so interesting that I had a lot of fear of putting my own business. I like a safety net, and this point when I am still thinking of college funds for my kid and as a family we need two steady income, I decided to have a home-based creative business even if I’m working a full-time job. There is definitely pros/cons, but the real good part about this is I can test the waters and not feel pressured. And yes, I do some of the tips you suggested because working full-time and being a mompreneur can be exhausting. So I do try to take breaks and pause to think about the rewards/achievements.

  • Reply natashasolae March 15, 2016 at 3:41 pm

I grew up in a family where I was basically conditioned not to celebrate small wins. This was the hardest thing for me when I first became an entrepreneur to really grasp. My business partner always used to say that I never seemed excited. Inside I was appreciative of the win but I never realized how to celebrate one.
It was like I was taught to be emotionless towards success.

Soon I learned that the reason I had no physiological response to small success was because I was afraid of losing or letting myself down. Once I realized it’s okay to really enjoy the moment it changed everything. It even changed how I felt about myself. It sucks it took me such a long time to realize how celebrating each and every win is so important. But now I’m glad I did. When you can’t see success and you don’t celebrate it, it’s hard to be grateful. And being grateful means you’re able to see even the smallest crack of opportunity. By changing my mindset I became a better person, a better friend, a better family member, a better girlfriend and a better entrepreneur. I’ve received an abundance of opportunity just from this attitude change alone.
