Choosing The Perfect Wreath For Your Front Door

Front door wreaths definitely add more curb appeal and scream “welcome.” Outside front door wreaths vary and are available in a variety of colors, styles, types, and shapes. Choosing the perfect wreath for your front door can often be a daunting and challenging task. It is important to think about some factors before pulling the trigger and buying your own front door wreath.

Tips to Pick out the Perfect Wreath for Your Front Door

Matching Your Home Decor Color Scheme

It’s important to consider your interior decorating style and color scheme when buying front-door wreaths. The front-door wreath is an introduction to your home’s interior. It’s a good idea to coordinate your front door wreath with your home’s interior color scheme.

If you have a hard time finding a wreath in your color scheme, pick a wreath that has at least one of the colors that match your home interior. If all else fails – Pick a neutral colored wreath – those are always a safe bet (and my absolute favorite – Neutral lover right here)

Door Size

Be sure to measure your door before you go shopping. Usually, front doors are 36 inches wide. If that is the case, a 24 inch wide wreath, would be a good fit for you. You will have 6 inches on each side to give enough space to look symmetrical. It serves as a frame around the wreath, which gives it a nice appearance.

Now, if you have double doors, they tend to be narrower than a regular exterior door. You will need to look for two 16 inch wreaths. Your main goal is to cover about 50 – 75 % of the width of the door with a wreath.

Artificial vs. Fresh Floral Wreaths

  • Artificial-floral wreaths – If it gets dusty, you simply take it down, dust it and put it back up again. Super simple and ideal for a front door.
  • Fresh-floral wreaths – These wreaths last longer when placed in a covered porch – out of direct sunlight. Having conditions that are high in humidity will also shorten life of a wreath.

I was on the hunt for a great front door wreath that had artificial flowers (aka easy maintenance.) I finally found one that I’m super excited about. I wanted to make sure I got some pattern on the wreath somewhere. The stripes on the bow are neutral and match the interior of our house. The pink flowers make our navy blue door POP.
