Her Favorite Boca, Florida Spots:

I have lived in South Florida within a 45 minute trip radius all of my life. I lived in Boca for 4 years while in College (I went to Florida Atlantic University, GO OWLS!). After college I moved around a bit but always close by and then just moved back to Boca for good maybe 4 months ago. I love living here, it’s known for it’s pretty architecture and it has everything you could ever want to do yet it still maintains a smaller city vibe, at least where I live. We love doing new things and there’s no shortage of places to go or things to do around here. It’s also close to my family and most of my friends.

Rebel House

I love this place. Home of the Fat Kid Fantasy Dessert, my favorite. The menu is unique and delicious. It has a really fun and eccentric vibe. Sort like a funky circus theme, and I love a good theme. They also have an amazing staff there that remembers your name and your order. They give you popcorn when you sit down which is a new flavor every night. Definitely a must visit. I actually had my last birthday party here in their private room.

Mizner Park

Mizner is my go to for a quick and easy shopping trip or fun lunch date. Boca has one of the best malls, like ever, but it can get a little crowded and hectic. Mizner Park can be a great alternative. It’s an outdoor mall with stores like Kendra Scott, Francescas, and Lord and Taylor. I visit at least once a week. It has a little of everything there.

Sloans Ice Cream

Sloans!! Ahh I love this place. If you haven’t been, you need to go!! It’s the cutest and most delicious ice cream shop I have EVER seen anywhere. Hot pink walls with murals and multicolor chandeliers. Definiately insta-worthy. They also have cookies, brownies, candy, and cheeky little gifts. It’s a destination for sure.

The Beach

I know, what a cliche thing to say in Florida, but truth be told, the beach in Boca is by far the best. Why you say? It’s quiet and (sorry tourists) it’s usually only locals. I don’t know if it’s the lack of hotels in the area or what but unlike all the other beaches around, it’s easy to park your car and your beach towel. And the beach is just part of the Florida lifestyle, no matter how hot it may be.

Boca Resort

Swoon. THE hotel in Boca (maybe even South Florida). First of all, it’s pink, second of all, it’s FABULOUS. I got married there and have visited many times since then just to stay for the weekend (yes, 10 minutes away from my own house). It’s on a gorgeous lake and has another property accessible by ferry that is on the beach. It’s a true resort with restaurants, shopping, and activities and only the best of the best. You really don’t have to leave the property while you’re there.

In a few sentences describe yourself and your business

I am a wife, mom to my 1.5 year old daughter, and party stylist. I have actually been doing parties for over 10 years now (and I’m not as old as that sounds! haha). I started in High School when I worked at a store in the mall called Club Libby Lu and I stayed there through most of college slowly working my way up the pink ladder. It was a makeover party location/store. Fast Forward to after college, got married, opened my own similar concept store called Party in Pink. Fast Forward about 3 more years, found out I was pregnant, closed the doors and swore off parties forever (all of 6 months). After Lilah was born, I started my instagram but didn’t want to be just another mommy fashion blogger. So I started sharing my parties and then wanted to do more and more of them. I was getting more jobs both locally and virtually which opened up a whole new world that was just perfect for me. I can do what I really have always loved to do and get to stay home with my daughter.

I’m very interested in knowing more about what you do as a Celebration Stylist

I am a party stylist which is often confused for a party planner. I’m not really so much a party planner. Party Stylists handle the decor and aesthetics of a party which can also include the flow and activities but I don’t arrange outside vendors and timelines and running the show the same way a planner would. I actually usually leave before the event even starts. I style parties for my local clients that hire me as well as for companies all over which I promote on my instagram and blog. So it’s sort of two fold yet also very similar. I design all of the decor and make a lot of it myself. If I don’t make it, then I at least embellish and personalize it. The cake table is usually the main focus followed by the guest tables and centerpieces then the entrance and photo booths etc.

What type of events do you do?

I do all types of events. I would say I do kids parties more than any other type of event but I’ve done a little of everything. I also do a lot of showers (baby and bridal)

If you could give one tip for a new business owner what would that be?

I feel like I have a million things I would tell a new business owner but I guess the first one would be do what you love. Not only to be happy but I truly wholeheartedly believe that you can be much more successful at something you love to do because the ideas will come more naturally.

Being a party stylist sounds like a lot of fun because decorating is the best part. I love all the amazing images she has created. It is great to read about successful women.

Thank you so much! Decorating really is the best part!!

I have to agree with Gwendolyn on this one. For years I wanted to be a wedding planner but I never explored it further after my own wedding. I had no idea that it involved that much work!

It does!! But decor comes with it’s challenges too! But it’s definitely more fun and exciting in my opinion!

Now a party stylist sounds like a dream job! It is so fun to be able to take something you absolutely love and are passionate about and turn it into a way to provide for your family. Your parties look beautiful!

What a fun job…I was an event planner in the early 2000s and so much has changed! Jessica looks like she has it down pat. Love her style and spirit.

Thank you so much!! It takes practice but you could get better at it! xo

I always enjoying seeing others making an income following their passions. I still am looking for MY profitable passionate niche. Just remember to always take time for that precious child of yours. Busy is a nasty word.

    • Reply Jessica Lighter September 8, 2016 at 12:46 pm

You’ll find it! You may already know what it is, you just need to figure out how to make it all work 🙂 And I do spend lots of time with my sweet girl every day!! Another perk of styling parties- I only usually only work (outside of my house) 1 day a week!
