The Creative Local: Caitlin O’Keeffe
Her Favorite Morristown, New Jersey Spots:
I’ve lived In Morristown, New Jersey my whole life. I was born and raised here and my parents still live in the same house, 26 years later. I love Morristown because it’s where I grew up. I have so many memories here and in my house that I’ll take with me forever. It’s been a great town to grow up in and I’ve been lucky to live only 40 miles outside New York City and about an hour from the beach.
I love going to Whole Foods for a quick and healthy bite to eat! I also never leave without a fresh batch of flowers. My favorite healthy item (s)? The salad and soup bar – always super fresh. My favorite least healthy item? Well that’s easy. The delicious star shaped gummy bears that stare at me every time I walk by them. It takes a lot of self-control to leave that place without them …
The food & coffee at the artist baker is all freshly made and delicious. If you’re in the mood for a healthy, authentic meal then you head here. It’s also very charming and nestled in a little alley way right off the center of town.
My Current Workspace
As a young professional in job transition, I love working at home in what I love to call my ‘office’. The office is a mix between my room and my sisters. I love my sister’s room because it gets the best natural light in the house. There’s something about the light pink colored walls that just screams happy. It’s a perfect place to work because I feel inspired and comfortable. I love my room because it’s actually the opposite of that. It’s neutral and doesn’t get the best light, making it a very calm and serene space. I just re-designed the space last spring and One Kings Lane featured it on their social media channels!
Next Up: Interview with Caitlin
In a few sentences describe yourself
I would say I’m approachable, understanding and honest. I work really hard and I’m very passionate about the things I love. I would also say I have a goofy side but that only comes out when I’m around silly people …
Why did you decide to write a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I started PMP back in 2012, just after I graduated college. I was working at a healthcare pr firm in NYC at the time. I constantly found myself reading blogs during my breaks, or during any opportunity for that matter. After a few brainstorming sessions and researching blogs I really admired, Pattern Me Pretty was born. I’ve always had an interest in fashion and interior design and decided that this new found platform would be a great way to express my creative passions. My favorite part about blogging is the community and constant source of inspiration from other bloggers. I love waking up every morning with a coffee in hand, catching up on my ‘daily reads’. It starts my day off on the best note possible and I’m ready to get after my tasks.
How would you describe your design style?
I would say my design style is a mix of a few different styles. I love the combination of traditional and french country with some modern and bohemian touches. If done right, you really can combine all of those styles!
I enjoy seeing your blog posts on interior design trends and home improvements. What draws you to interiors?
Thank you! Interior design runs in my family. My grandmother was very talented and I remember going to her home when I was a little girl and loving everything. My Mom is also very talented with color and pattern. I’m pretty sure we would re-decorate and arrange my room a couple of times a year growing up.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I find my inspiration from a combination of outlets. I love reading interior design magazines, blogs and of course, browsing pinterest. I have several online magazines / interior design blogs bookmarked on my computer that I check on a daily basis.
